Regulations on Returns and Refunds
1. Return Period
Consumers have the right to request a return within seven days of receiving the goods. During this period, consumers can request an unconditional return from the merchant without providing any reason. Beyond this period, consumers’ return requests will be subject to certain restrictions and they need to state valid reasons. Therefore, when purchasing goods, consumers must understand the merchant’s return and exchange policy to avoid being unable to return the goods after the deadline.
2. Product Quality
Merchants are responsible for product quality issues. If there are problems with the product quality, such as damage, deformation, or color difference, consumers have the right to request a return or exchange from the merchant. Therefore, when purchasing goods, consumers should carefully inspect the product quality and raise any quality issues on the spot. Meanwhile, merchants should strengthen quality control to ensure that the goods meet national quality standards.
3. Refund Method
Consumers have the right to request a full or partial refund. A full refund applies to special circumstances such as product quality problems, while a partial refund should be determined through mutual negotiation between the two parties or in accordance with legal regulations. Therefore, when requesting a refund, consumers should negotiate with the merchant or understand relevant legal regulations to avoid disputes. At the same time, merchants should comply with relevant legal regulations to ensure that consumers receive a full or partial refund in a timely manner.
4. Corporate Response Measures
Enterprises should comply with relevant legal regulations and actively handle consumers’ return and refund requests. First, merchants should carefully review consumers’ reasons for return and process the return application promptly if the reasons are valid. Second, merchants should strengthen after – sales service to provide consumers with better services, such as consultations and guidance. Finally, merchants should establish a sound return and refund system to effectively protect consumers’ rights and interests.
5. Legal Liability
The Civil Code also clearly stipulates the legal liabilities of merchants and consumers. Merchants engaging in illegal activities such as false advertising or having product quality problems will be subject to legal sanctions. Consumers engaging in malicious returns, blackmail, or other improper behaviors will also be punished by law. Therefore, both merchants and consumers should comply with relevant legal regulations and jointly maintain market order and fair competition.
